2021-2022 EHS Kindergarten

Today we worked on solving addition word problems. We practiced solving the problem using pictures, a number line, a ten frame and a number equation.  We did a guided drawing of a dolphin and coloured it in using crayon. We completed our dolphin fact card to add to our ocean boxes.  We had centers. We went outside to enjoy some sunshine before it rains.  Mrs. Mask's PM class had music and Mrs. McLean's class had gym. It was Mrs. McLean's last day. We wish her the best of luck with her new baby. She will be missed!:) **Tomorrow's field trip is cancelled due to the weather.  AM and PM Kindergarten classes will be at the regularly scheduled times.  **

Today we solved addition math problems by using a number line. We are practicing using many different math tools to help us when solving problems.  We continued our research about Dolphins. We watched some more videos and read stories about dolphins. We chose a fact and wrote it on our ocean animal fact cards. PM Kindergarten had two groups of students from Grade 3/4 Watterson/Zwack/Bates class.  They performed Reader's Theatre for us.  AM kindergarten and Mrs. McLean's class had music. Mrs. Mask's PM class had gym.  We had centers.  Today was class picture day.  We exchanged our home reading. Your child brought home 3 books. Please return them on Thursday. We did our school wide write for Kindergarten today. We looked at a picture of Spring and wrote about all the things we saw or like to do in the Spring. The children are really working hard at writing down the sounds they hear in the words. We are so proud of all the progress they have made in their writing this year.  We started our research about Dolphins. We read, "Dolphins" and watch videos about the dolphin. Ask your child to share an interesting fact they learned about dolphins.  We had centers. AM kindergarten went outside. The weather can change quite a bit in the day so please dress for the weather and in layers so your child will be comfortable.  Please  arrive at 2:30 to pick up your child  from our regular dismissal door.  Please send us an email if your child cannot attend the field trip on that day.  Today was writing Wednesday. We looked at an underwater ocean scene and had to write about something from the photo. We are proud of how far our learners have come with their writing! They are doing a fantastic job getting their ideas down on paper.  AM Kindergarten learned about Octopuses. We read, "Octopuses One to Ten" and "Inky the Octopus" and watched a video to learn about the octopus.  PM Kindergarten learned about the Anglerfish. We read, "Monsters of the Deep" and watched a video about anglerfish.  We started to record facts on our fact poster in the class.
