Today we started our day with cooperative puzzles and games. We did domino addition and practiced solving and writing addition sentences. We read, "In the Sea" and talked about the animals habitat. We did small world play and used loose parts to create a habitat for a chosen sea creature. We walked to Teepee Forest and read the story, "And Then It's Spring". We used magnifying glasses and explored the forest for signs of Spring. We drew pictures to show our findings with chalk.  Have a wonderful weekend. Enjoy the sunshine!

We did a guided drawing of a sea turtle on our fact cards today. We drew with sharpie and then painted  with watercolour. We chose a fact we learned about sea turtles and added it to our card. We are practicing counting on and wrote out addition number sentences using dominoes. AM Kindergarten and Mrs. McLean's class had music. Mrs. Conley's and Mrs. Mask's PM class had gym. Spring Pictures came home, orders are due by May 11.  Tomorrow is AM Kindergarten. We will be going on a community walk tomorrow. Please dress for the weather.

Today we had Writing Wednesday. We are working on writing a sentence by using our high frequency words and sounding out unfamiliar words. Our learners are doing a wonderful job putting down the sounds they hear. We started to learn about sea turtles. We watched a few videos and read a non fiction story about sea turtles. We made a list of interesting facts we learned. Ask your child to share something about sea turtles. We played a domino game with a partner. We are working on counting on from the number shown.  We had centers and went outside to play.  Friday is AM Kindergarten.  Full School Glenbow Ranch Off-site Learning Experience - Thursday, May 19, 2022:   We are excited to continue our tradition of exploring and learning on the land at Glenbow Ranch with all Kindergarten to Grade 4 Learners attending on the same day. Volunteers for this off-site learning experience would be expected to: -Have completed and cleared the CBE Volunteer Clearance process prior to Thursday, May 19 -Be

Today we looked at fiction and non fiction books all about ocean creatures. We then chose creatures we would like to learn about and voted using gems. We will then spend the next few weeks researching about the creatures we voted on. We finished our work with the layers of the ocean. AM kindergarten labeled the layers and PM Kindergarten painted the layers in our visual journals. We continued to learn to count on using dominoes. AM kindergarten and Mrs. McLean's class had music. Mrs. Mask's classes had gym. Friday is AM Kindergarten.

Today we exchanged our home reading. Your child has brought home 3 books to read. Please return them on Thursday. If your child has not been bringing home home reading, please return their folders to ensure they can bring books to practice. We continued to look at the blue whale. We are creating animal fact cards and we made our first one about the blue whale. We drew with sharpie on watercolour paper then used watercolour pencils to colour in the whale. We wrote a fact about the whale on the back of the card. In math, we are practicing the skill of counting on. We are using dominos to add numbers together. We are practicing saying the number sentence out loud. We had centers and gym. Mrs. Mask's PM class had music. Friday is AM kindergarten.

Happy Earth Day!  With the unexpected snow we decided not to do our walk to Teepee Forest but we will try again once the weather cooperates.  After reading "The Earth Book" by Todd Parr, we did a guided drawing for Earth Day. We brainstormed and wrote down ways we could help the earth. Ask your child about what ideas they had.  We played a fun syllable game where we had to run (or skip, or swim, or jump) to the number of syllables of the word Ms. McLean read out loud. For example if she said "aquarium" we had to run to the number 4. We also spent a short amount of time playing badminton in the gym.  We continued practicing counting on skills with dominoes as a class and by playing a game with a partner.  Our day wrapped up with watching a quick video on the 5 oceans and playing at centres.  Reminders:

Today was a busy day at school.    We have begun to research our first ocean animal, the blue whale.  Please ask your child to share a fact or 2 about the blue whale with you. AM Kindie had music with Mrs. Coulson.   The morning class continued to learn about the layers of the ocean and we painted the top 3 layers (sunlight, twilight and midnight) in our journals.  We used blue paint and then blue mixed with white to make the 3 shades of the layers. Mrs. Conley's class had centers and Mrs. Mask's class went to the gym to further explore racket sports. Ms. McLean's class had music while Mrs. Mask's PM class when to the gym. The PM class learnt a new math game with dominoes to help us with our counting on skills. We also went out into the hub to see how big a blue whale is. A blue whale went from the front door all the way to the end of the hub! We had to line up and spread out our arms to make our whole class the same size!  This week Kindergarten st udents are working i
