 Monday is class picture day!  Please bring your best smiles!

Please fill out and return the  yellow field trip forms for the upcoming field trip to Glenbow Ranch on Thursday May 19th. Both AM/PM classes will be attending Kindergarten all day for the field trip. Please note for the field trip day our school day will be  from 8:20am to 2:30pm.  Please pack a lunch, snacks, bottle of water and dress in comfortable shoes for walking. The weather can change quite a bit in the day so please dress for the weather and in layers so your child will be comfortable.  Please arrive at 2:30 to pick up your child from our regular dismissal door. 

Please send us an email if your child cannot attend the field trip on that day. Thank you !

Today was a great day at school!  We had arrival centers and continued to work with the concept of counting on from a number.  We used a number line to count on from a given number.

We went for a community walk and explored Waterfall Valley, Cattail River and Teepee Forest.  We saw many signs of spring on our walk.  At teepee forest we used magnifying glasses to look closely.  We used paint chips to look for varying shades of colors.  We read a story about looking for signs of Spring.  We used our sharpies to draw a spring picture and then used watercolors to paint.  It was fun to paint outside!

Today we chose 3 books to come home for home reading. Please send the books back on Thursday and write the book titles only ONCE on the book log sheet. Happy Reading :) We read, " I Am Love " and talked about what makes us feel loved. We drew picture about what love is and shared with the class.  We played bears in den and practiced making 10. We are practicing using our fingers and counting on to help us figure out ways to make 10.  Mrs. Mask's PM class had music and AM and Mrs. McLean's class had gym.  Today we watched the a video to kick start the Jump Rope for Heart Fundraiser. AM kindergarten looked fantastic all dressed up for Halloween! We had a fun day at school.  Today we were Scientists and took a closer look at pumpkins. We watched a video from Sci Kids about pumpkin dissection and learned about all the parts of a pumpkin. We learned about estimation and had to estimate about the height of a pumpkin using cubes, the circumference of a pumpkin using string and estimated the number of ribs on the pumpkin. We then measured to see how accurate we were with our guesses. We worked in groups.  Our last job was to predict what would happen when we placed a pumpkin in water. Would it sink or float? We used tally marks to share our thinking. Ask your child what happened when we placed the pumpkin in water.  We read the story, "The Happy Pumpkin" and talked about jack o lanterns and the different faces. Today we exchanged home reading. Your child took home 2 books to read this week. Please return them on Thursday. We are looking at poetry in our class. We read the story, "Hello Ocean" and had to think of one word to describe the ocean. We made a list and talked about using descriptive words to speak about the ocean. We used our 5 senses to help us describe the ocean and created a class poem. We will be focusing on creating ocean creature poems over the next few weeks in class.  We played bump in math. It is a game that focuses on counting on from the biggest number using dice.  AM Kindergarten and Mrs. Mask's PM class had music. Mr. Campbell's class had gym. We practiced rhyming words and wrote our own on whiteboards.  We had centers.  Friday is PM kindergarten.
