2021-2022 EHS Kindergarten

 Today we had a great last day of school before the holidays! We had arrival centers. Today we did puzzles and cooperative games.  We read, "How to Catch an Elf" and did a guided drawing of an elf in our visual journals. We then used loose parts, toys and materials to create elf traps. Ask your child what they created. We had some very creative ideas! We played in the gym.  Hope all of our families have a safe and happy holiday. Happy New Year!! We will see you Tuesday January 4th. 

We had a great day at school today. Lots of excitement with the winter break approaching ! We had carolling in the gym. We read "North Pole Ninjas" and talked about being kind. We got a name of a friend in our class and made a friendship bracelet for that person.  We played math games. We practiced all the dice and card games we have learned over the past month.  We had music and centers. Tomorrow is PM Kindergarten.   We wish all of our AM kindergarten families a safe and happy holiday!! We will see you Tuesday January 4th.  A few from the afternoon kindergarten from PJ day

Thank you to everyone who wore their pajamas day!  Considering the cold weather outside it was nice to be comfy and cozy inside! Today we read a fiction and non-fiction book about reindeers. We talked about the difference between fiction and non fiction books. We read " The Naughtiest Reindeer" and " A Day in the Life of a Reindeer". We drew a picture of a reindeer in our journals and wrote down a fact we learned about reindeers. Don't forget tomorrow is Pajama Day!  We can't wait to see everyone in their jammies tomorrow!  We had a great day at school today!  We went to the gym to sing Christmas carols.  The AM classes sang with the grade 3/4's and the PM class sang with the 1/2's. We read the story "Snowmen All Through the Year" and did a guided drawing of snowmen.  We used the watercolor paints to paint our snowmen.  We even tried to make a pattern on the snowman's hat and scarf. We had music and gym.  Please ask your child what they did in music with Mrs. Coulson.

 Today we had new arrival centers. We had a fun morning reading different Gingerbread stories. We read, Gingerbread Girl, Gingerbread Baby, Gingerbread Boy and Gingerbread Pirates. Ask your child how the endings differed in all the stories. Which was their favourite and why? We made our own gingerbread man out of paper and then used loose parts to create homes for our Gingerbread. We practiced retelling the story with our gingerbread people.  We went to gym.
