Today was a busy day at school.   We have begun to research our first ocean animal, the blue whale.  Please ask your child to share a fact or 2 about the blue whale with you.

AM Kindie had music with Mrs. Coulson.  The morning class continued to learn about the layers of the ocean and we painted the top 3 layers (sunlight, twilight and midnight) in our journals.  We used blue paint and then blue mixed with white to make the 3 shades of the layers.Mrs. Conley's class had centers and Mrs. Mask's class went to the gym to further explore racket sports.

Ms. McLean's class had music while Mrs. Mask's PM class when to the gym. The PM class learnt a new math game with dominoes to help us with our counting on skills. We also went out into the hub to see how big a blue whale is. A blue whale went from the front door all the way to the end of the hub! We had to line up and spread out our arms to make our whole class the same size! 

This week Kindergarten students are working in-school with Lexi Hilderman from Radiant Art on our final two outdoor murals. 

EHS students helped design these final two panels with artist Rebecca Ellison in the fall, clarifying and improving on the initial designs through the fall. The designs are now finished and the blank mural panels have been prepared. Our EHS learners will be bringing them to life over the next six weeks!

Friday is PM Kindergarten. We will be going for a community walk to teepee forest to celebrate Earth Day. Please dress your child for the weather as the mornings are still cool and there may still be some snow there. 

Police Screening:  Kindergarten will be going on a field trip to Glenbow Ranch on Thursday May 19.  We will require many volunteers to help us out!  In order to volunteer all adults must have a current police screening with CBE.  If you are interested in volunteering please contact the main office to complete the necessary paperwork.  If you complete the paperwork in the next week your screening will be back in time for you to be able to join us.

Today we chose 3 books to come home for home reading. Please send the books back on Thursday and write the book titles only ONCE on the book log sheet. Happy Reading :) We read, " I Am Love " and talked about what makes us feel loved. We drew picture about what love is and shared with the class.  We played bears in den and practiced making 10. Monday May 16

 Today was class picture day.  We exchanged our home reading. Your child brought home 3 books. Please return them on Thursday. We did our school wide write for Kindergarten today. We looked at a picture of Spring and wrote about all the things we saw or like to do in the Spring. The children are really working hard at writing down the sounds they hear in the words. We are so proud of all the progress they have made in their writing this year.  We started our research about Dolphins. We read, "Dolphins" and watch videos about the dolphin. Ask your child to share an interesting fact they learned about dolphins.  We had centers. AM kindergarten went outside. We looked at Bees today. We read some non fiction stories about Bees and Sci Kids video about Busy Bees. Ask your child what they learned about bees.  We did a guided drawing of a bee. We were so impressed by our learners and their drawings. They have become quite the artists.  We practiced our make ten card game with a partner.  We played  " Fuzz Bugs Number Factory " and practiced making number bonds to 10.
