Wednesday March 9
We had show and tell today. It is great to see what makes our friends happy.
We did a math game today to practice looking at the die and writing the number down. Once we practiced with 1 die, we used 2 dice. We practiced counting on from the biggest number.
AM Kindergarten reread, "Why I Should Help?" and had a conversation about being a helper. The children then wrote about a time that they were helpers.
PM Kindergarten used their puppets (of themselves) to retell stories orally.
We read, "Your Body Is Awesome" and talked about everything that our body helps us do. We talked about taking care of our bodies. We played a game, can you body do this? and then wrote things that our body can do in our visual journals.
We had gym. We began to learn about playing hockey. We practiced holding the stick properly and how to move around the gym.
Mrs. Mask's PM class had music. Ask your child what they did.
Show and Tell (Thursday)
AM: Ben H, Isobel and Hunter
PM: Penelope,Grady and Kaiori
Reminders:
Cultural Artifact
In Social Studies, we are learning about what makes each of us unique. To help us learn about each other, we are asking that each child bring in a cultural artifact (object) that represents (or is important) to your family. This could be a cultural object (clothing, art, an item from a holiday you celebrate, a song or dance, a picture of traditional food) or a photo or video showing any of your cultural or family traditions. This is NOT “show and tell”, so the objects should have a personal meaning to your child and family.
Students will bring in either the object, or a photograph of the object, and share it with the class. The expectation is that they will be able to talk about:
- what the artifact is
- where it came from
- why is it important to your family
- what the student would like us to know about the artifact
ALL items need to be brought in and/or sent to the teacher by Monday March 14. For videos or photos, please email your child’s teacher and for artifacts please bring in on Monday. The items will come home on Monday after the children have shared.
Please sign up for Conferences on Thursday and Friday by using the MYCBE school conference function.
The Book Fair continues to be open this week, please check Fridays blog for all the information. You can purchase items during parent teacher conferences.
