We practiced writing the letter "y". We talked about the sound it makes and words that begin with y. 

We read the story "All the Colors of the Earth" and had a conversation surrounding the beauty and importance of diversity. Within this conversation we talked about how everyone's skin colour and hair colour/texture are unique to them as there are many different shades of skin and hair colour and a wide range of hair textures. Students created a paper doll puppet version of themselves where they accurately coloured their eye and hair colour and matched their skin colour using Crayola's "colours of the world" crayons. Ask your child what diversity is and why it is important. 

AM Kindergarten used 3D shapes and ramps to test if pyramids, cones, and rectangular prisms roll, slide, and/or stack. 

PM Kindergarten learned about these three new shapes: rectangular prism, cone, and pyramid. Ask your child what they learned about these shapes.

AM kindergarten and Mrs. McLean's class had music. Mrs. Mask's PM class and Mrs. Conleys AM class had gym. 

Tomorrow is PM kindergarten.

Today we chose 3 books to come home for home reading. Please send the books back on Thursday and write the book titles only ONCE on the book log sheet. Happy Reading :) We read, " I Am Love " and talked about what makes us feel loved. We drew picture about what love is and shared with the class.  We played bears in den and practiced making 10. We are practicing using our fingers and counting on to help us figure out ways to make 10.  Mrs. Mask's PM class had music and AM and Mrs. McLean's class had gym.  Today we watched the a video to kick start the Jump Rope for Heart Fundraiser. We looked at Bees today. We read some non fiction stories about Bees and Sci Kids video about Busy Bees. Ask your child what they learned about bees.  We did a guided drawing of a bee. We were so impressed by our learners and their drawings. They have become quite the artists.  We practiced our make ten card game with a partner.  We played  " Fuzz Bugs Number Factory " and practiced making number bonds to 10. If you play on a desktop, you can access www.abcya.com  We have also been playing  Addition Bubble Buster  on Education.com to practice making 10.  Mrs. Mask's PM class had music. We had centers.  This Friday is PM Kindergarten.  There will be no more book exchange this year . Please return your books for next week so that Mrs. Carde can catalogue all of the books .  Today was class picture day.  We exchanged our home reading. Your child brought home 3 books. Please return them on Thursday. We did our school wide write for Kindergarten today. We looked at a picture of Spring and wrote about all the things we saw or like to do in the Spring. The children are really working hard at writing down the sounds they hear in the words. We are so proud of all the progress they have made in their writing this year.  We started our research about Dolphins. We read, "Dolphins" and watch videos about the dolphin. Ask your child to share an interesting fact they learned about dolphins.  We had centers. AM kindergarten went outside.
