 Thank you for all those families who attended Parent teacher conferences. It was great to speak with the families and get to see our learners share about what has been happening in Kindergarten. 

We exchanged our home reading. Please return the books on Thursday.

We had some friends share their show and tell.

Many of our learners brought in cultural artifacts to share with everyone. It was great to learn about our learners family traditions and celebrations. Thank you to everyone for sharing.

We are beginning to work on our design thinking challenge. Our students are going to be challenged to build something that will be able to move Fuzzy/ Lulu the monkey around the classroom. Today the children talked about the problem and solution and later this week will be building something to be able to move the monkey. 

We reviewed the 2D and 3D shapes we have been learning about by playing a tracing game with a partner.

Friday is AM kindergarten.


Note from Ms. Mach and Ms. Gysbers 

Our class is starting a design challenge where students will invent/create something out of recycled materials in order to help our class “pet” (a stuffed monkey who watches for the best listeners) move around the classroom as she injured her leg. In order for this design challenge to be successful, we will require a wide range of recycled materials. This includes but is not limited to:

● Small boxes

● Egg cartons

● Yogurt containers/lids

● Plastic lids of any size - need lots of these.

● Paper bags

● Plastic cups

● Plastic containers

● Kleenex boxes

● Paper towel rolls

● Scotch tape

If you could begin collecting any of the above items, our class would greatly appreciate it. The more items we have, the more creative students can be. We will need these items by March 16th (latest), but please feel free to bring in the items in bags as you acquire them.

Additionally, we would like to invite three (3) parent/guardian volunteers from both morning and afternoon classes to assist us with the final challenge that will consist of students building their final creations. This will occur during the week after spring break. The exact date will be determined early next week.

Today we chose 3 books to come home for home reading. Please send the books back on Thursday and write the book titles only ONCE on the book log sheet. Happy Reading :) We read, " I Am Love " and talked about what makes us feel loved. We drew picture about what love is and shared with the class.  We played bears in den and practiced making 10. We looked at Bees today. We read some non fiction stories about Bees and Sci Kids video about Busy Bees. Ask your child what they learned about bees.  We did a guided drawing of a bee. We were so impressed by our learners and their drawings. They have become quite the artists.  We practiced our make ten card game with a partner.  We played  " Fuzz Bugs Number Factory " and practiced making number bonds to 10. Monday May 16

 Today was class picture day.  We exchanged our home reading. Your child brought home 3 books. Please return them on Thursday. We did our school wide write for Kindergarten today. We looked at a picture of Spring and wrote about all the things we saw or like to do in the Spring. The children are really working hard at writing down the sounds they hear in the words. We are so proud of all the progress they have made in their writing this year.  We started our research about Dolphins. We read, "Dolphins" and watch videos about the dolphin. Ask your child to share an interesting fact they learned about dolphins.  We had centers. AM kindergarten went outside.
