Today we started our day with new arrival centers. Ask your child where they played. 

We are very excited to be starting our home reading program. This week your child has come home with 2 books. Please read them over the next 2 days and return them on Thursday. Please see your child's coloured folder for information about our home reading program, a book log and the books your child has chosen. Starting on Monday we will send home 3 books and ask they are returned every Thursday. Please send the books to and from school in their coloured folders. Please record the books on the book log. We ask that you only record each book title ONCE even though you may read them many times over the course of the 3 days they will be at home.  Once your child has read 10 books. They will be able to choose a prize from our home reading box. There is additional information in the package about strategies to use with your child when reading the home reading books. Thank you for all your support in promoting reading with all of our learners. 

We continued to work in our Winter books. We only have a few more pages until our books are complete. 

We had music (AM classes and Mrs. McLean's class)  and gym. 

Friday is AM kindergarten.

Today we chose 3 books to come home for home reading. Please send the books back on Thursday and write the book titles only ONCE on the book log sheet. Happy Reading :) We read, " I Am Love " and talked about what makes us feel loved. We drew picture about what love is and shared with the class.  We played bears in den and practiced making 10. We are practicing using our fingers and counting on to help us figure out ways to make 10.  Mrs. Mask's PM class had music and AM and Mrs. McLean's class had gym.  Today we watched the a video to kick start the Jump Rope for Heart Fundraiser. We looked at Bees today. We read some non fiction stories about Bees and Sci Kids video about Busy Bees. Ask your child what they learned about bees.  We did a guided drawing of a bee. We were so impressed by our learners and their drawings. They have become quite the artists.  We practiced our make ten card game with a partner.  We played  " Fuzz Bugs Number Factory " and practiced making number bonds to 10. If you play on a desktop, you can access www.abcya.com  We have also been playing  Addition Bubble Buster  on Education.com to practice making 10.  Mrs. Mask's PM class had music. We had centers.  This Friday is PM Kindergarten.  There will be no more book exchange this year . Please return your books for next week so that Mrs. Carde can catalogue all of the books . Monday May 16

 Today was class picture day.  We exchanged our home reading. Your child brought home 3 books. Please return them on Thursday. We did our school wide write for Kindergarten today. We looked at a picture of Spring and wrote about all the things we saw or like to do in the Spring. The children are really working hard at writing down the sounds they hear in the words. We are so proud of all the progress they have made in their writing this year.  We started our research about Dolphins. We read, "Dolphins" and watch videos about the dolphin. Ask your child to share an interesting fact they learned about dolphins.  We had centers. AM kindergarten went outside.
