Monday December 6
Today we had new arrival centers. We are working on skills such as alphabet recognition, making words, patterning, subitizing and small world play.
We learned about a the letter Nn and the sound it makes. We practiced printing the letter n and drew pictures of items that start with n.
We continued to learn about frogs and how they prepare for hibernation. Ask your child what frogs do. We learned about how frogs have glucose in their bodies. We were scientists today and did an experiment with syrup and water to show what happens when we freeze the liquids. We are looking to see what happens to the frogs bodies when it is time to hibernate. Ask your child what they think will happen.
We learned a new math game. We played race to 10 (or to 30). We roll a dice and have to move our bear the number of spaces on the dice. In order to win the game you must roll the exact number to land on 10 (or 30) or you have to return to the beginning.
We had centers and Mrs. Mask's PM class had music and Mrs. McLean's class had gym.
This is Ms. Mach's and Ms. Gysbers last week with us until the new year. They will be back for their final practicum from February to April. We have loved having them in our class.
This Friday BOTH AM/PM kindergarten will attend school.
Every Wednesday in December will be Spirit Days:
Dec. 8 - Festive shirt/sweater day or green and red day
Dec. 15 - Pyjama Day
Eric Harvie families, we are calling on your kindness and generosity to support families in need during this Holiday Season. We are supporting 13 families from Colonel Fred J. Scott School and Eric Harvie Community. Each classroom will be assigned a family to support this season.
In the spirit of giving this holiday season, all staff at Eric Harvie School would like to thank families in advance for their thoughts and contributions! Thank you for making a family’s Holiday Season a little brighter!
Here is the link to find the list of the family your child's class is supporting. Make sure to look at the bottom and find your child's teacher. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/13-EwhZhhQRm2DBb7P1ws_i18qFrlDw2gfa8-yEfLr3Y/edit#gid=0
