Today was picture day. Kindergarten brought their best smiles :)
Today we talked about Terry Fox and read the story, "Terry Fox and Me". We talked about Terry's dream of running across Canada and shared our own dreams. We used watercolour pencil crayons and decorated a shoe in honour of our own dreams in hopes that we can be like Terry and accomplish our goals.
We had snack outside and playground time to enjoy the beautiful fall weather.
We wrote in our journals today. We practiced printing the words I like and drew pictures about things that we like.

AM kindergarten looked fantastic all dressed up for Halloween! We had a fun day at school. Today we were Scientists and took a closer look at pumpkins. We watched a video from Sci Kids about pumpkin dissection and learned about all the parts of a pumpkin. We learned about estimation and had to estimate about the height of a pumpkin using cubes, the circumference of a pumpkin using string and estimated the number of ribs on the pumpkin. We then measured to see how accurate we were with our guesses. We worked in groups. Our last job was to predict what would happen when we placed a pumpkin in water. Would it sink or float? We used tally marks to share our thinking. Ask your child what happened when we placed the pumpkin in water. We read the story, "The Happy Pumpkin" and talked about jack o lanterns and the different faces. We made our own pumpkins using paper. We had music with Mrs. Coulson. Friday is PM kindergarten. PM kindergarten are invited to wear the...
Today was a great day at school! We learned about the number 1. Please enjoy the Number 1 song . We turned our number 1 into a snake and practiced printing the number 1. We used loose parts today. Parents, you may have been wondering what we mean by loose parts when you hear your children refer to them. Loose parts are a fabulous way to engage imaginative play and connect to many different areas of learning. Our kindergarten children will become very familiar with loose parts as the school year progresses. Loose parts can include gems, buttons, rocks, corks, popsicle sticks, pom poms, really anything that you may have in your junk drawer! Today we used the loose parts to show Kindness. Please ask your child what loose parts they explored with today. We had music with Mrs. Coulson. Please ask your child what your child did in music. Today was fun snack. See notice below if you would like to register your child for fun snack. Tomorrow ...
