Monday September 27

Tomorrow is Orange Shirt Day - please wear your orange shirt to show your support that every child matters.  We will be painting with orange paint ... please do not wear your best clothes tomorrow.  Painting in Kindergarten is messy!

If anyone has any sunflowers in their yards that they would be willing to donate to Kindergarten, please send them to school on Monday.  We would love to create a science exploration center using the sunflowers.  If you have any questions, about this, please contact your child's teacher.  Thank you for considering our request!

We started our day with arrival centers.

We talked about the month of September and all of the "firsts" that came with September. We drew pictures in our visual journals about all of the first things we have done at school.

The morning class met with Saa' Ko' Ko'Too to listen to Indigenous songs and stories.  We liked that Saa' Ko' Ko'Too spoke to us in his language of Blackfoot.

We learned about the number 3.  We turned the number 3 into a monster.  Please enjoy the Number 3 song.

The PM kindergarten class listened to a virtual assembly about Terry Fox. More information below about Terry Fox.

Terry Fox School Run

Our school is proud to take part in this year's Terry Fox School Event.  Please help us to continue the legacy of one of Canada's greatest heroes, by donating and supporting our school's fundraising efforts.
Our Terry Fox School Run will take place on Friday, October 1, 2021.  To keep our participants safe during the pandemic we will be sending our students out in their grade cohorts on that day. Our run will take place in the school field south of the school.

Friday is AM Kindergarten.  PM Kindergarten is invited to join the run (time to be announced) with a parent while AM Kindergarten is outside.  We hope that our friends in PM kindergarten are able to join us.

Eric Harvie School is talking part in the in the TRY LIKE TERRY CHALLENGE.  We have challenged the school to raise $2000.00.  If we are successful, we will be having a movie and popcorn celebration on a date TBD.

To also keep our students and staff safe, we will be only accepting donations online. Please share the following link with friends and family to help us reach our goal.

Terry's Story
At the age of. 18, Terry Fox was diagnosed with osteogenic sarcoma and was forced to have his right leg amputated. Determined to help others suffering from cancer, he decided to run across Canada, running a marathon a day for 143 days, to raise funds for cancer research.  Unfortunately, Terry's cancer returned, and he was forced to end his Marathon of Hope, but his legacy had only just begun.

Today, the future of cancer research is very bright. The Terry Fox Foundation funds a variety of different cancer research projects such as lung, breast, ovarian, colorectal, pediatric, prostrate, brain and blood.  With your support, we will continue to make a difference in the fight against cancer.
